Expo Spotlights In-Store Media, Technology

Las Vegas -- Multiple exhibitors and presentations at this year's In-Store Marketing Expo, Nov. 12-14 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, will focus on in-store technology. An overview of booths to visit and seminars to check out follows.

Fairly new to the scene, Springboard Retail Networks (booth #1136) will showcase its Concierge service, an in-store tool designed to assist shoppers, retailers and vendors. Essentially a touchscreen mounted to a shopping cart, this interactive tool provides customized product offerings, recipes, interactive shopping lists and the ability for shoppers to scan and pay for items as they are placed in the cart. The system also allows for each cart to be tracked, giving retailers insight into traffic patterns, time spent in each aisle and products selected. Springboard's booth is located in the Retail Media Forum.

Also in the Retail Media Forum is the InStore Broadcasting Network (booth #1141). IBN's audio and video advertising is designed to entertain, inform and deliver relevant messaging to shoppers at the point-of-sale. Stop & Shop and Kroger are two of IBN's existing customers. Another shopping cart application, Engage In-Store Marketing & Communications (booth #909) will highlight Cart-TV. This weatherproof system displays ads on the customer-facing screen, supplemented by an attached coupon dispenser.

Microsoft Corp. (booth #421) expects to unveil two new technologies as part of the FutureVision Gallery on the show floor. The company will also present its Microsoft Surface table display. AT&T is the first company to use the unit at retail. The 30-inch interactive table enables consumers to review mobile phone features side by side with digital graphics and windows. Shoppers can drag and drop options onto the phone. Microsoft will also highlight its partnerships with Reflect Systems, creator of ReflectView, a digital signage network, and MediaCart Holdings, maker of a detailed shopping cart system.

On the heels of its recent announcement of the Walmart Smart Network, the retailer is hosting a special symposium for Walmart vendors to learn more about the advanced TV network. The symposium is being held Thursday, Nov. 13.

On Nov. 14, from 10:45 a.m. until the final seminar at 3:45 p.m., five seminars will focus on retail media:
